AMC Theatres enhances its rewards program by introducing a free tier for moviegoers who watch frequently or accumulate enough points, aiming to increase customer loyalty and repeat visits.

AMC Theatres has redesigned its Stubs A-List rewards program with the goal of transforming casual moviegoers into dedicated, repeat customers. Members who watch at least 30 movies or earn a minimum of 5,000 AMC Stubs points in a calendar year will be upgraded to the new AMC Stubs Premiere GO! tier.

This tier grants moviegoers nearly identical benefits to the Premiere GO! tier, including waived ticket fees and size upgrades for drinks and popcorn, all without the upfront annual membership fee of $17.99.The move to entice moviegoers back to theaters through rewards programs has become a significant and growing revenue driver for major exhibitors. By introducing a free loyalty tier to its AMC Stubs program, AMC aims to reward audiences based on the number of movie tickets purchased or points accumulated instead of requiring a membership fee. 'This new tier gives our Insider members an exciting and achievable pathway to unlock enhanced rewards simply by enjoying the movies they love,' stated Ellen Copaken, AMC's senior vp of marketing, in a Thursday press release. 'This new tier is our way of saying thank you to our fans for their passion and dedication, while continuing to deliver the unparalleled value and convenience they expect from AMC.' Members who attain the AMC Stubs Premiere GO! status will retain their membership for the remainder of the calendar year and the following year. The new rewards tier is strategically designed to encourage occasional moviegoers to make more repeat visits and cultivate customer loyalty. Simultaneously, the separate AMC Stubs A-List caters to avid moviegoers, allowing members to watch up to three movies per week in all premium formats, including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, and more.
