Amazon is implementing another round of layoffs, impacting approximately 16,000 employees. This follows previous job cuts and reflects the company's efforts to streamline operations, reduce costs, and leverage generative AI. The layoffs, the largest since 2023, include plans for transition support like severance pay and outplacement services. It has also been lowering a workforce that increased during the pandemic. These latest layoffs are the organization's largest since 2023, when the company cut 27,000 jobs.Additionally, the new reductions in staff follow a round of job cuts in October, when Amazon said it was laying off 14,000 employees.
