Federal suspension of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program has halted AEA plans to expand EV charging stations in Alaska.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Following recent executive orders signed by Pres. Donald Trump , the Alaska Energy Authority said it may have to cancel plans to expand electric vehicle, or EV, infrastructure along the Railbelt and in other communities along the road system.

There remains pushback against the prevalence of EVs, however, with opponents pointing to higher costs, potential environmental impacts, and the limited infrastructure to support EVs, which the AEA is attempting to address.
