However, amidst this culture of extravagance, several IAS and IPS officers have made headlines by choosing simple and understated ceremonies, proving that love doesn’t need a big budget.The wedding of IAS officer Yuvraj Marmat, an Assistant Collector in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, has been in the spotlight. He tied the knot with Mounika, an IPS officer from the Telangana cadre. Both cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2021. Their wedding was a simple court marriage, setting an example for young couples. The wedding cost was just around Rs 2,000.Amidst the demonetization of November 2016, when weddings were being conducted with utmost simplicity, IAS officers Saloni Sidana and Ashish Vashisht also chose to marry. Despite being capable of spending lakhs, they decided to keep it simple and tied the knot for just Rs 500. Both belong to the 2014 IAS batch.Ria Dabi, the younger sister of IAS officer Tina Dabi, serves in the Rajasthan cadre. She married her batchmate, IPS officer Manish Kumar, in a quiet court marriage. The couple kept their relationship under wraps for a long time, but after Manish’s transfer, their secret was out. Now, the two have started expressing their love openly on social media.IPS officer Navjot Simi and IAS officer Tushar Singla's wedding is a perfect example of a low-key affair. The couple, both serving in the Bihar cadre, got married on February 14, 2020, at Tushar's office in West Bengal, where he was posted at the time. Their office wedding was widely talked about, and they later had a traditional ceremony at a temple.These stories highlight that while Indian weddings are often grand, there is beauty in simplicity, and love doesn't need a lavish celebration to be meaningful. These power couples have also set an example for the Indian youths that spending on lavish wedding should not be the norm.
