" The FBI said it is not taking its foot off the gas when it comes to stopping violent crime in Montgomery. “None of our personnel are ceding the area. We have a presence here that we maintain and we have now formed the model of how we want to work together to greatly impact the community,” said Special Agent in Charge with the FBI, Sara J. Jones. “So this is almost a kickstart to how we envision doing that. So this will be again, as we said, not the conclusion, but really a demonstrated beginning of how we are now working side by side, effortlessly and tirelessly to make sure we are bringing safer communities to the area.” Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshal mentioned his pleasure with the involvement in “Operation Southern Star.” “Today is an example of when we are at our best in law enforcement,” Marshall said. “When you have collaboration and cooperation across federal, state and local officials, when you do not see jurisdictional boundaries limiting your participation, and when everybody is united behind a singular mission, and that is to be able to make this a safer city and this a safer community.” The operation falls under the FBI’s VIPER surge initiative which is intended to target cities where evidence of violent crime is apparent and where the city has requested assistance. Special Agent Jones said that now steps fall to the community by calling in tips and keeping law enforcement informed if violent crime is seen.Milton woman arrested on felony charges including child pornography, sexual contact with animalRabies case confirmed in Covington CountySamsung adds iPhone-style sharing; Bluesky not happy over AI
