Here is Sunday’s recap from 49ers training camp as Brock Purdy idled and the reps went to Trey Lance, Sam Darnold and Brandon Allen performed in the first padded practice.
SANTA CLARA — The 49ers returned to practice after their first day off at training camp but Brock Purdy was not among those participating. Here is Sunday’s roll call:The Purdy Plan is for him to practice two consecutive days, then not throw the next two days, hence his absence from Sunday’s drills even after a day off. The 49ers typically are planning three consecutive days, so Purdy is limited to individual conditioning when not practicing.
*Darnold stays in the pocket as it collapses and throws a strike over the middle to Brandon Aiyuk, who was covered by D’Shawn Jamison.*Darnold beats a blitz and finds Aiyuk over the middle for a 50-yard touchdown — the FIRST TOUCHDOWN of camp. Aiyuk breaks past cornerback A.J. Parker, races 40 yards after the catch toward the end zone, leaps as he cross the goal line and throws the ball at the wall in celebration.
