A strong cold front will track through the area Thursday night.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The team is tracking a strong cold front Thursday which will be the focus for strong to severe storms possible Thursday afternoon and evening. A 19 First Alert Weather Day is in effect for Thursday.
Our main concerns will be heavy rainfall and the potential for damaging wind gusts. However, a few storms could become more organized posing a large hail and isolated tornado risk especially west of I-71 tomorrow evening. A few showers and possibly a rumble or two of thunder will be possible Thursday morning. This activity is not expected to be severe. Many look to stay dry by midday into the early afternoon hours before radar starts to pick up on developing showers and storms to our north and northwest. As the cold front moves into the area, showers and storms will fill in ahead of the front, some of which could be strong to severe. Once the front passes, lingering rain and rumbles will still be possible headed into the overnight hours before colder and drier air settles into Northeast Ohio by Friday morning.A stronger north wind helps to secure a cold end to the week with highs on Friday only expected to warm into the mid 30s. Clouds will clear to more sunshine by the afternoon. Temperatures eventually drop temperatures into the 20s overnight. The weekend brings quiet weather thanks to high pressure settling into the area. Highs will warm from the low 40s on Saturday to the mid 50s on Sunday under mainly sunny skies. Next week features a warmer, but more unsettled weather pattern. Highs will jump into the 60s and 70s.
