It’s been nearly 13 years since The Office went off the air for good, but NBC is here to deliver a gift to fans of the beloved sitcom. Peacock announced yesterday that a new season of The Office Superfan episodes was now available for all subscribers.
This new season features never-before-seen footage from the ninth and final season of The Office, and it’s also confirmed to be the last season of Superfan episodes. Even after all these years, The Office remains one of Peacock’s flagship properties — as evident by the many spin-offs in the works — but it’s clear that the studio still has love for the original series. The Office was popular when it was first running on NBC in the late 2000s and early 2010s, but it wasn’t until the show arrived on Netflix a few years after it went off the air that it developed a cult following. After streaming exclusively on Netflix for years, fans were devastated when it was announced that it was making the jump to Peacock, but fans have migrated over the years to enjoy more rewatches of the show. There have been whispers for years of a potential reboot or revival featuring the original cast, but nothing has made it off the ground yet. The Office turned several of its stars into major Hollywood figures, but no one benefited as much as John Krasinski. Even Steve Carell had already starred in plenty of big movies before his time in The Office, but Krasinski’s most famous work has come in his time after Dunder Mifflin. He led several seasons of Prime Video’s Jack Ryan series, and he also headlined Guy Ritchie’s Apple TV action thriller, Fountain of Youth. When Does ‘The Paper’ Season 2 Come Out? NBC released an Office-adjacent spin-off show, The Paper, in September last year. The only returning star in The Paper is Oscar Nuñez; the show otherwise features an entirely new cast in a new location. The Paper was met with a lukewarm reception from critics and audiences, but NBC still decided to renew the show for a second season on the same day that it premiered. Leading star Domhnall Gleeson recently confirmed that production on Season 2 is scheduled to begin soon, so it could premiere before the end of the year.
