A software engineer but really a musician and a writer.

Night Hunter, an overlooked and widely panned Henry Cavill thriller, is quietly finding a second life on streaming nearly six years after its release. The crime drama has recently climbed into the streaming charts and is currently sitting at No.

4 on Paramount+’s Top Movies in the world. When Night Hunter debuted in 2019, it struggled to gain traction due to a combination of limited promotion and an underwhelming theatrical rollout. It was first released under the title Nomis at the LA Film Festival 2018, which was later changed to Night Hunter for a wider theatrical release. Despite a decent cast, including Ben Kingsley, Alexandra Daddario, and Stanley Tucci, the movie failed to generate meaningful box office numbers. While the film's production budget isn't publicly available, Night Hunter is estimated to have collected only $1 million worldwide. And over at Rotten Tomatoes, the film’s scores are still quite underwhelming — 14% on the Tomatometer from critics' ratings and a 50% audience score. The movie is directed by David Raymond, and follows the story of a hardened police lieutenant who becomes entangled in a dangerous investigation involving a suspected serial predator. The story leans heavily into psychological tension, and at the time of release, its grim tone and uneven execution made it difficult to stand out in a genre already saturated with similar films. Henry Cavill’s Career Has Shifted Direction Since ‘Night Hunter’ While Night Hunter is only now finding an audience on streaming, Henry Cavill’s career has moved in a very different direction since the film’s release. In the years that followed, the actor transitioned away from smaller-scale thrillers and into franchise-led projects with long-term plans behind them, including Netflix’s The Witcher, Enola Holmes, and Enola Holmes 2. Cavill is also currently working with Amazon MGM Studios to develop a live-action cinematic universe based on the popular tabletop game Warhammer 40,000, in which he is set to star and serve as an executive producer. It is set in the far future where humanity is on the brink of extinction, and battling for survival against hostile alien races, demonic threats, and its own internal stagnation. Alongside that, Cavill remains linked to the long-in-development Highlander reboot, directed by Chad Stahelski. The project has already faced delays after the actor sustained an injury during training in late 2025, which pushed the film’s production timeline further into 2026. The setback has slowed the early momentum of the film, but it is still in development, with no official release date announced yet.
