10-day suspension of religious activities in mosques nationwide, says minister

All activities at mosques and surau, including Friday prayers and congregational prayers are to be suspended, starting March 17 to 26, says Minister in the PM's Department Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, March 16, 2020.

FRIDAY prayers and all religious activities in mosques nationwide will be suspended from March 17 to March 26, following a decree by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri. Zulkifli, who is in charge of religious affairs, said that during the suspension period, all mosque and surau committees are to conduct cleaning and sanitising as a precautionary measure.
