PETALING JAYA: National top men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia (pic) is set to break into the world’s top 10 for the first time, thanks to a brilliant semi-final outing in his All-England debut.
The 21-year-old is projected to move up to No. 10 by three rungs, when the latest Badminton World Federation world ranking list is released tomorrow.
While three-time Olympics silver medallist Chong Wei had dominated the world No. 1 for a long time, the 2012 French Open champion Daren reached the top 10 in May 2013, although it lasted only a week. However, when the BWF lift their suspension of all tournaments from April 12 onwards, Zii Jia will certainly be out to resume where he left and build on his ranking progress.
