One year ago to date, Star Wars released Adam Christopher's novel Shadow of the Sith, delivering a remarkable assessment of Darth Vader and Palpatine's dynamic. Set roughly 15 years before the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the book centers on Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian as they follow the trailer of Ochi of Bestoon - an assassin doing the bidding of the presumed-dead Emperor.
Vader And Palpatine Were Fire And Ice To commemorate the anniversary of Shadow of the Sith, Youtini shared a quote from the novel illustrating the stark difference in nature between Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. Vader was always burning at his core, ready to lash out at a galaxy that he believed had taken everything from him. He was an endless cycle of hate and self-contempt, barely able to control his rage. Palpatine, conversely, was always in control - of his emotions, the beings around him, and every situation he encountered.
