Supermodel Paulina Porizkova must leave her NYC apartment just days before her wedding to Jeff Greenstein, causing stress and debate over perceived sacrifices. The couple discusses housing struggles and past trauma on their podcasts.
Supermodel Paulina Porizkova faces an unexpected housing crisis that threatens to overshadow her upcoming wedding. The 61-year-old Czech-born model and writer has been informed that she must vacate her New York City apartment by the end of June, leaving her with only four days before her scheduled marriage to fiancé Jeff Greenstein in Italy.
On her podcast Twenty Good Summers, Porizkova explained that her landlord declined to extend her lease despite her being a tenant for six years. She described the situation as incredibly stressful, noting it undermines the joy she should be feeling about marrying the 62-year-old Emmy-winning producer after a three-year courtship.
This forced move echoes previous trauma; Porizkova still feels the emotional weight of having sold the $10 million Gramercy Park townhouse where she lived for decades with her late husband, The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek. His body was discovered there in 2019, and following their 2017 separation, he cut her from his will. She eventually settled with his estate in 2021, receiving a third of his fortune under New York law.
Adding a layer of relational tension, Greenstein highlighted his own significant sacrifice in the relocation. After 38 years in Los Angeles, he moved to New York to live with Porizkova just four months after they met on the dating app Raya in February 2023. On the same podcast, he expressed feeling that his gesture was not fully reciprocated, stating, "I feel like I made this big sacrifice and this big gesture. And what a move!
But for you, it's like, 'Well, for now.
'" Porizkova pushed back sharply, scoffing that she does not view his actions as sacrificing or big gestures. She argued that equality would only occur when he also sells his Los Angeles home, mirroring her own predicament of having to leave her long-term NYC residence. The couple, both podcasters-Porizkova with Twenty Good Summers and Greenstein with I Dream of Cameras-plan a temporary solution.
They will likely stay at her co-owned Upstate New York home with her adult sons or at his LA residence until they can secure a new apartment in New York City. Meanwhile, they have completed the paperwork to marry in Italy in early July, having applied for the necessary documents seven months ago. The immediate pressure of moving combined with the impending wedding creates a complex emotional landscape for the self-described "privileged" third-act couple
