“Why? What good would that do you?” burglary victim Gregory Brown questioned. “My uncle Robert had one too, and as far as I know it’s missing too, I haven’t found it. I think they’ve got both of them.”

) - Gregory Brown ’s father, Corporal James Brown , is an American hero. He earned a purple heart medal following World War II after being wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. That medal - earned over 80 years ago - has stayed in the family ever since, until it was stolen a few weeks ago.

“Why? What good would that do you?” Brown questioned. “My uncle Robert had one too, and as far as I know it’s missing too, I haven’t found it. I think they’ve got both of them.”Brown is an artist, his paper mâché projects can take months to complete. Some of his most ambitious projects like an 8-foot-tall bird statue are also missing. “You don’t think about your work being stolen like that, especially something as unusual as that paper mâché birdman,” Brown said. “I just wonder what that person could be thinking? Where in the world are you going to take something like that?” To make matters even worse, Brown says this all happened while he was in the hospital. Neighbors have told him while he was gone they spotted a suspicious U-Haul vehicle near his property in broad daylight. “It’s not a thing you want to happen after you get out of the hospital,” he said frankly. “I opened the door and saw this chaos, the whole place was ransacked, foot-and-a-half deep with photographs and documents, paintings and prints, everything I have collected.” No suspects have been arrested, but Brown has some clues because someone brought portions of his possessions to a local art gallery.Anybody with any information about the burglary is asked to contact his family at 216-2002 as well as the Montgomery Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 625-2831. According to a police report, the incident, which happened between June 29 and July 3, is being investigated as third-degree burglary and second-degree theft.Montgomery police chief addresses public after violent weekend
