CHARDON, Ohio - The Chardon Fire Department received aid from many neighboring departments Saturday morning to assist a structure fire. According to a release, the call came in at approximately 8:05 a.
m., where CFD, along with automatic aid from Munson, Hambden, Concord and Kirtland Fire Departments were all dispatched to a reported garage fire on Auburn Road. While firefighters were in route, a MADAS Box Alarm was requested, bringing additional resources from the Leroy, Chester and Mentor Fire Departments. When fire crews arrived, they encountered heavy fire conditions extending through the roof of the attached garage with fire involvement into the residence.CFD said firefighters were advised that all occupants and pets safely exited the home prior to crews arriving on scene. Fire crews initiated an aggressive offensive fire attack and brought the fire under control in a timely manner. The release said one person was evaluated on scene for possible smoke inhalation but did not require transport to a medical facility.
