A teenage boy died Monday morning after the car he was driving crashed and became submerged in a lake in the Pasagshak area on Kodiak Island.
KODIAK, Alaska - A teenage boy died Monday morning after the car he was driving crashed and became submerged in a lake in the Pasagshak area, according to the Troopers received word of the crash around 8:03 a.m. Monday.
They said the car was submerged in Lake Rose Tead, and state and Wildlife Troopers found the 17-year-old boy trapped underneath the car. The teen became trapped under the driver side of the car after he was partially ejected out of the driver’s side window, according to troopers, which clarified that the car came to rest on that side of the vehicle. People on the scene and troopers attempted to rescue the teen but were unable to.
He is believed to have died before AST arrived. The teenager was the only person inside the car, and family has been notified. The investigation is ongoing, troopers said.
