Police have identified the man who died in a fire at a Kenai motel Sunday as Thomas L. Conn.

Firefighters were called to the Uptown Motel shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday following reports of a fire inside the building, according to the City of Kenai Fire Department.When crews arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from a first-floor room.

Firefighters launched an interior attack while simultaneously searching the building for occupants, officials said Sunday. The fire was contained to the room where it started. Firefighters located Conn unconscious inside the room where the fire originated, the department said.
