The search for a missing hiker in York County has come to an end after the 47-year-old man was found dead Monday afternoon, officials said.

The York County Coroner said in a release that Markey died after falling, with blunt force injuries being his cause of death. The manner of death itself is pending further investigation. Joshua Markey of Red Lion was last seen Thursday around 8:42 a.m. when he parked his vehicle off of Furnace Road, just west of Indian Steps Road in Lower Chanceford Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Police later confirmed that on Monday at around 1 p.m., troopers from the York County Criminal Investigation Unit located Markey deceased in Lower Chanceford Township.It's believed that Markey, an avid hiker, had been hiking the Mason Dixon Trail within PA State Game Lands 83 at the time of his disappearance.
