A south suburban school district is expected to vote on whether to terminate a custodian accused of serious crimes.
A Joliet school district is expected to vote on the future of an employee, accused of serious crimes. The suspect was a janitor at Eisenhower Elementary School. According to the district, he has not worked here since October.
Now the school board will considering terminating him at their meeting Wednesday night. Jeremy Ledesma is charged with three counts of child pornography. Those charges date back to the beginning of 2025. In a letter to parents, Joliet Public Schools Superintendent Theresa Rouses says the district wasn't made aware of the investigation until this past October. Even then, district leaders were unaware of what Ledesma was being investigated for. The 23-year-old was still placed on leave.However Ledesma allegedly videotaped students on the playground. Those videos are not part of the investigation. Rouse goes onto say, "I want to reassure you that Mr. Ledesma passed all required state and FBI criminal background checks prior to being hired by District 86. "These checks also notify us if any new criminal convictions occur. No such notifications were provided to the District."Copyright © 2026 WLS-TV. All Rights Reserved.
