Not every spring break plan requires a long drive or a crowded beach.

For families in the Dothan area, local options offer a full week of activities without leaving town. Kara Campbell with Visit Dothan said the city has more to offer than many residents realize. “I think that there’s always something to do in Dothan .

A lot of locals don’t seem to think that,” Campbell said. One option is a self-guided tour of more than 90 peanut sculptures scattered across the city. Among them is a sculpture called Coke-a-Nut. Visitors can explore the trail by car using a map, learning about the city’s agricultural history along the way.For families looking for a hands-on experience, J.B.W. Farms is welcoming visitors this spring break. The Woodham family has worked in agriculture for generations, and owner Bert Woodham said he wants the public to see the operation firsthand. “We encourage folks to come here and see what we’re doing. And take that and these things that you can learn here that you can use in your daily life,” Woodham said. Starting this Friday, families can explore farm and wildlife tours, visit the on-site bakery and shop, and use an outdoor play area. “These little things you can pick up on here that will make a difference in life that you can take with you ― grown folks and kids,” Woodham said.Download the WTVY News4 app to get alerts and stories the moment they are published.
