A San Antonio couple is reaching out to the community for support as they prepare to bury their infant son just one year after miscarrying a baby girl. In October 2023, Jasmine Martinez and Michael Villa were 13 weeks pregnant with a baby girl when they learned the baby's heartbeat stopped, according to a fundraiser launched by Villa .

One year later, the couple were expecting a baby boy due Jan. 13, 2025. She began experiencing complications after the surgery and developed a fever, Villa said. 'Multiple high level doctors, specialists and surgeons have stopped by our room at this time... unfortunately every time they have entered the room, it's always bad news for the Villa family,' Villa wrote. Doctors determined that Martinez's life was at risk, and the baby's chances of survival were low, so the couple decided that Martinez would go into early labor in an attempt to save her life. 'The decision ultimately narrowed down to our baby's life coming to an end or the baby's life Jasmine's life coming to an end,' Villa wrote on GoFundMe. Villa and Martinez spent 10 hours and 33 minutes with Noah before he passed away. They took cherished family photos and watched him respond to their voices as he fought for life on a ventilator and underwent an operation. The grieving couple is now seeking support for unexpected funeral costs, calling the loss a 'nightmare' in the GoFundMe. The fundraiser has raised almost $9,700 of its $10,000 goal as of late Monday morning.
