Mayor Ron Nirenberg will help kick off this weekend's San Japan anime and gaming convention, which runs Friday through Sunday at the Henry B. González Convention Center. Nirenberg will be there for opening ceremonies 11 a.m. Friday in the convention center's main lobby. Hopefully in full cosplay for the occasion.
Sons of Anarchy' stars coming to San Antonio for Big Texas Comicon Designated San Japan 15, this year's geek-out for Japanese animation and pop culture is expected to draw at least 24,000 avid fans or otaku to the made-in-S.A. event. San Japan started in 2007 with Zero Day Anime, a sort of trial-run convention at Our Lady of the Lake University that drew around 800 attendees.
