Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is experiencing a surge in traffic as thousands of employees return to in-person work after years of remote arrangements. The base has implemented traffic updates, including lane change prevention, converting four-way stops to two-way stops, and adjusting gate operating hours. The base emphasizes its commitment to a secure and efficient transition for returning employees, while experts suggest a hybrid working model could be the most efficient approach for government positions.

FAIRBORN, Ohio – At Wright-Patterson Air Force Base , many employees are returning to in-person work after years of being remote.“This is where it’s going to get clunky,” says John Davis, VP of Human Resources at Cedarville University. “We’ve gotten used to a whole new way of doing rhythms in our lives and now that’s getting disrupted.”With recent orders from President Trump and Governor Dewine, thousands of federal and state employees are doing just that.

The updates include lane change prevention, changing 4-way stops to 2-way stops, and decreasing hours of operation at gates 1B, 12A, and 22B. The statement goes on to say that the base is currently working on a more concrete transition plan for their returning employees. However, Davis says that in many cases, remote work can lead to more productivity from the employee if goals and tasks are communicated effectively to them.
