A Russian dating app magnate has put his London mansion on the market for nearly £30 million, featuring a meticulously reconstructed subterranean complex modeled after the Batcave from The Dark Knight. The unfinished 'shell and core' property spans over 14,500 square feet and includes a hidden workshop, retractable floorboards, a convertible pool-dancefloor, and high-tech infrastructure, inviting a new owner to complete the visionary project.

A Russian tech entrepreneur with a passion for gadgets has listed his extraordinary London mansion for nearly £30 million. Sergey Frolovichev , who amassed his wealth through leadership roles in the popular dating apps Bumble and Badoo , purchased the property on Greenaway Gardens in Hampstead for £13.35 million.

Over the past five years, he has invested an additional £15 million into a groundbreaking transformation, dismantling and rebuilding the home's lower levels into a high-tech sanctuary inspired by the fictional Batcave ofBruce Wayne. This subterranean complex, accessed via a hidden staircase behind retractable floorboards in the games room, is a direct homage to the lair featured in his favorite film, The Dark Knight.

The corridor leading to the main chamber is lined with display cabinets suitable for showcasing memorabilia, armor, or trophies, before opening into a versatile workshop or studio space. The design ethos reflects a blend of cinematic fantasy and ultra-modern functionality, intended as the ultimate personal retreat for innovation or entertainment. Beyond the iconic basement, the neo-Georgian mansion-originally constructed in 1934 by architect Charles Henry Bourne Quennell-offers a staggering array of amenities across its 14,501 square feet of interior space.

These include a swimming pool that can be concealed beneath a dancefloor, a car stacker, six reception rooms, a triple-height entrance hall, a dedicated study, a kitchen with pantry, a media room, a comprehensive health spa with steam room and sauna, and a passenger lift servicing all levels. The primary suite occupies the entire width of the house, complemented by two private roof terraces, two walk-in dressing rooms, and dual ensuites.

An additional five bedrooms, each with ensuite bathrooms, are distributed across the upper floors, while a separate staff studio occupies the lower ground. The property sits behind designer gardens, accessible via expansive triple-glazed sliding doors, and includes 7,921 square feet of external terraces.

Notably, despite extensive work, the house remains in a 'shell and core' condition: all core infrastructure-including plumbing, electrical systems, heating via an energy-efficient ground source system, underfloor heating, and MVHR ventilation-is fully installed and controlled from a sophisticated subterranean plant room with dozens of panels. The outdoor space also features a well. Agents from Draper London emphasize that the home is effectively future-proofed.

However, Frolovichev, who relocated to the UK in 2005 alongside his business partner Andrey Andreev, has decided to sell the unfinished project to allow a new owner to complete the vision. After the 2019 sale of their parent company, MagicLab, to Blackstone for $3 billion, he has since moved permanently to Italy with his family and does not intend to return to Britain to finish the renovations.

The asking price of £29.95 million reflects the unique character of the property and the high-quality groundwork already in place, offering a rare opportunity for a buyer to imprint their own style on a truly remarkable residence
