However, Niall Harbison, the founder of the Happy Doggo online community and charity, strongly disagreed.
Harbison, a dedicated animal welfare advocate and rescuer, had met Stormzy and sensed a spark of life and resilience within the injured dog, believing he had the potential to recover. He and his team made the unwavering decision to provide Stormzy with every possible chance at survival. They embarked on a journey of care, commitment, and hope, refusing to give up on the tiny dog. His survival was in question. \After weeks of dedicated care and unwavering belief, a remarkable transformation began to unfold. Stormzy started walking and playing, mirroring the behavior of any other healthy dog. He even started enjoying belly scratches, a testament to his gradual recovery and the dedication of the team around him. Harbison expressed his amazement at Stormzy's progress, highlighting the profound turnaround from the initial prognosis. Stormzy’s recovery was nothing short of a miracle. Harbison shared, “Stormzy is out playing fetch, running in the jungle and enjoying belly rubs. We’ve helped and believed in him but we really have to put it down to his very own strength of character. What a brave boy Stormzy is.” The initial prognosis of the injury gave very little hope for a recovery. Stormzy had gone from being unable to stand or lift his head on his own to a full recovery, playing and living his best life. He watched with a keen interest as Stormzy ran “at top speed in a straight line” for the first time, noting that “he could have run all day long.” Harbison admitted his initial doubt, recalling the agony Stormzy endured, the contorted neck, and the vacant stare in his eyes. He emphasized that the recovery wasn't as straightforward as it seemed, highlighting the challenges faced during the process. The fact that Stormzy was still a puppy worked in his favor, as his youthful energy and vitality fueled his determination to keep trying, even after painful faceplants. He refused to give up and showed tremendous character. \Brain injuries and swelling in dogs can severely impact their ability to perform even basic functions, such as standing, walking, and maintaining balance. The speed of care and the age of the dog are crucial factors in the prognosis, with younger dogs often showing a better response to treatment. Stormzy's story of resilience attracted interest from all around the world, but his best home was located on the island of Phuket, where he was being cared for by a loving couple. This local placement ensured that he wouldn't have to endure a flight, with a short journey to his new home.
