Microsoft and Halo Studios are gearing up for a full-scale revival of the Halo franchise, with upcoming releases and a major reset ahead.
Halo fans have had a ton of exciting news this year during the franchise's 25th anniversary, with the upcoming release of Halo : Campaign Evolved and rumors suggesting Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes on the way as well.
Clearly, Microsoft and Halo Studios are poised to push the franchise into a full-scale revival era. While there's still no major update regarding the next mainline multiplayer entry in the franchise, Halo Infinite support has slowed down this year following layoffs and restructuring at Halo Studios.
However, reports suggest several new multiplayer projects, including experimental modes and Unreal Engine developments, are in the works behind the scenes. As such, it's only a matter of time before Halo gamers get that big announcement on the next multiplayer entry, and being the 25-year anniversary, it could be sooner than we thought. That said, Halo fans can currently claim several free downloads in celebration of the franchise's 25 years since Halo: Combat Evolved first released back in 2006.
In celebration of Halo's 25th birthday, Halo Infinite gamers are able to claim several free downloads simply by logging into their account anytime this year before December 31. While these downloads have been available since the beginning of the year, we wanted to offer up a little reminder in case players may have missed their chance at some free content.
The Silver Anniversary customization bundle includes the following items: Halo Infinite gamers have had a bit of a go this year, as the game is in a strange transition period. Halo Studios is slowly shifting the game into maintenance mode, though several smaller operations updates, playlist refreshes, Forge content, and rotating events continued to keep the multiplayer community active. The studio confirmed that major content support is winding down as resources move toward future Halo projects.
Further, official Halo Championship Series competition is also ending its Infinite era after the 2025 season, signaling a major franchise reset ahead. Ultimately, this could be a good sign for what's next, as Halo Studios is clearly gearing up for the big reveal of Halo 7, or whatever the next mainline entry ends up being titled. When that day does officially come, it'll be the start of a new era in the Halo franchise
