Prosecutors played many clips of secretly recorded phone conversations involving McGee and his wife and co-defendant, Echandza Dianca Maxie. In two different calls, Maxie can be heard telling people that law enforcement officers so quickly descended on a car McGee was riding in that he did not have time to ditch 3 kilograms of cocaine. Bryan Rulong, a Homeland Security Investigations agent, testified that the cocaine was in the same kind of packaging that covered 2 additional kilos that investigators found Maxie also can be heard on a phone call telling McGee that he should not have put Tierra Tocorra Hill – one of his lieutenants – in a bad position because she had young children. Law enforcement officers arrested her in 2024, and Mobile County sheriff’s deputies raided a house with children and drugs, including a 3-year-old wearing a backpack full of cocaine, according to testimony. Rulong testified that McGee disputed allegations that he told children in the house to get rid of the drugs, telling investigators that he told “somebody” to do it. Prompted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Roller, Rulong testified that only children were present in the house. Rulong testified that McGee admitted to selling drugs but that he downplayed his involvement. He said surveillance of the defendant revealed that he was a much bigger player.
