Stop! That! Train! - RuPaul Stars as President in Drag-Fueled Disaster Comedy Spoof

RuPaul leads a cast including Ginger Minj and Jujubee in this disaster film parody where two train stewardesses must stop a runaway luxury train from crashing into Los Angeles, with the President joining the chaos.

All aboard the Glamazonian Express! Or maybe reconsider boarding that train. Multi-talented drag icon RuPaul, after 17 years of hosting and judging her flagship reality series RuPaul's Drag Race and accumulating a record-tying number of Emmy Awards, now faces perhaps the greatest challenge alongside her fellow drag queens-stopping a runaway train in the aptly titled Stop!

That! Train!. She stars as the President of the United States in a wildly imaginative disaster comedy brimming with camp, dark humor, and high-energy drag-centric action, featuring a stellar cast led by Ginger Minj and Jujubee. As part of Collider's Exclusive Summer Preview, we are excited to unveil a new still image hinting at the outrageous adventure to come.

The film centers on best friends and train stewardesses Tess (Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee), who lose their jobs when their uninspiring employer, Stank Rail, shuts down. Luckily, two positions open up on the far more glamorous Glamazonian Express, a train where luxury meets punctuality.

However, their inaugural shift quickly spirals into disaster when the train plows into a "Stormaganza.

" With the speeding train careening off the tracks and heading straight for Los Angeles, Tess and DeeDee must unwillingly join forces with the snobbish first-class crew to divert this lethal runaway contraption. RuPaul herself sweeps in as President Judy Gagwell, poised to deliver a "presidential address" to the crisis. Marketed as a rollicking spoof of disaster movies, this project represents the first feature-length film spin-off from RuPaul's Drag Race.

It is produced by World of Wonder and directed by Adam Shankman, known for helming popular films such as The Wedding Planner, Hairspray, and Disenchanted. While the movie is undeniably created by and for the drag community, Shankman's aim with RuPaul was to craft a comedy accessible to all audiences. In conversation with NewsWeek, he characterized Stop! That!

Train! as a contemporary homage to Mel Brooks-"unapologetically queer" yet not intent on alienating any demographic or conveying a heavy-handed message. Its primary objective is simply to be an unstoppable train of mirth.

"It's interesting to see how we managed to thread that needle without taking down anyone," he remarked. "We were just generally satirical, taking on the old disaster movies. And I am aware there's going to be some potential politicization around the fact that the leads are in drag. But no one is playing drag queens.

There's no discussion of drag in the movie. They are just characters.
