It's designed to reduce fatigue in daily use, but provide better modulation during sporty driving.

Genesis is gearing up to launch its first true performance vehicle, the all-electric GV60 Magma —and it’s dribbling out some particularly interesting details about its features and performance while we wait to climb behind the wheel.

One of the weirder tidbits Genesis has just revealed the new EV packs is new throttle pedal logic, which it introduces as “innovative pedal response for enhanced control.” It’s common for drive modes to change throttle pedal sensitivity, but Genesis takes it a step further by dynamically changing the level of resistance your foot meets as you press the pedal further in. Genesis’s own description explains it best: “Resistance has been adjusted to elevate control and reduce fatigue, offering lower resistance in light pedal applications for daily driving and greater resistance for high-depression inputs during sporty maneuvers. This ensures a smooth and intuitive connection between the driver and the vehicle's subtle power.”In other words, slow driving should be relatively light work—but should you want more from the car, it sounds like the throttle pedal might simulate leg day. This sounds like it could be an elegant solution for high performance driving, though; minor adjustments to the throttle are constantly necessary on a track, and a pedal that can truly offer an intentionally modulated progression could be a boon for drivers. This solution also allows for Genesis to give folks a luxurious, effortless accelerator for around-town motoring, but appeal to the enthusiast for hard driving. Genesis still makes the throttle more sensitive in the sportier drive modes, though hopefully, the added weight takes some of the touchiness out of it. Genesis is also revealing more about the GV60 Magma's drive modes themselves. It has some typical EV drive modes like Range, Comfort, and Sport, but then it adds Magma-exclusive drive modes termed Sprint and GT. The Sprint mode “unleashes aggressive torque and accelerator sensitivity ideal for track settings,” while GT “delivers the performance of a luxury grand tourer, blending effortless cruising with commanding acceleration when needed.”Lastly, Genesis has confirmed the sporty car's output, now officially listed at 641 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque when in Boost mode, which lasts for up to 15 seconds. The horsepower is the same as the Ioniq 5 N, but the luxurious sibling does have an extra 15 pound-feet of torque.
