Marvin Poole died Sunday, May 3, while driving north on the interstate toward the Lyle Tunnel. His brother, Patrick Poole, said it has been an extremely hard time for their family.
CINCINNATI - The family of the semi driver who was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in early May continues to mourn the loss of a father, brother and son.
“Marvin was a loving brother, loving father, loving son and just a loving best friend,” Patrick said. According to the Cincinnati Police Department, on the evening of the wreck, officers responded to Fort Washington Way and East Second Street for a report of a crash involving a semi. Cincinnati Fire Department Assistant Chief Matt Flagler announced that the driver of the semi died after being trapped.
Patrick said his brother Marvin was behind the wheel of that semi and had been a semi driver for the last five years. He adds that the news of his death was a complete shock to him and his family, and he did not know when he saw Marvin two weeks ago that it would be the last time he’d ever see him.
“It really did, especially when I didn’t believe it and I went and tried to call him. That’s when I knew it was really real, because he answers my phone calls any time I would call him, and when he didn’t answer that phone call... Oh man. Yeah,” he said.
Patrick said he did not grow up with Marvin, but the two have been in each other’s lives for at least a decade.
“When we did meet, it was like we have been knowing each other our whole lives and I’ll never get a chance to see him again, that’s what’s really hurting me,” he said. “To hear one of his jokes, to eat some of his cooking, just starting to do the things that we were starting to do to know each other,” Patrick said. Patrick said he would be there for his brother’s children following his loss.
