A review of the movie Enchanted, praising its entertainment value, casting, music, and concept of bringing a Disney princess into the real world.
Enchanted was incredibly entertaining, and I loved the concept of bringing a Disney princess into the real world. Amy Adams , Idina Menzel, Patrick Dempsey, and James Marsden were perfectly cast. The catchy music felt like the perfect blend between Classic Disney and pop. However, unlike most Disney movies, I don't feel the urge to rewatch this constantly.
This movie is charming, endearing, and thankfully hit at the right moment, just between the parody movie boom and overly-meta, self-aware Disney trend (Though I feel it kind of got swept up in the former thanks to marketing). Adams and Marsden embrace their roles and perfectly capture the classic Disney-esque characters with ease.A childhood classic! Some of the most iconic images, and I would argue one of Amy Adams best career performances. It is nice that it got a sequel, and has gotten a fair amount of longevity.Amy Adams was stellar in the starring role of Giselle. This movie was clever, witty, and the romance in it is sweet, but for whatever reason, it wasn't memorable enough for me to rewatch it.Starring Amy Adams as Giselle, Enchanted follows its heroine as she is cast out of her animated fantasy world by an evil queen, ending up in the middle of New York City where she meets Robert, a jaded lawyer who reluctantly takes the clueless Giselle in. As Giselle begins to adjust to life in the real world, and her relationship with Robert deepens, she must reconcile what she thought she wanted with where life has taken her. Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Idina Menzel, and Susan Sarandon also star. As close as you can get to a family-friendly, live-action satire of Disney animation, made all the better since Disney itself made the film.
