Katie Price's husband was arrested in Dubai on a private civil matter, not espionage, and is set to be released after paying a fine.

Katie Price 's husband Lee Andrews was taken into custody in Dubai on allegations stemming from a private civil dispute , contrary to earlier reports that suggested he was being held on espionage charges.

The Daily Mail first disclosed that Lee was being held in Al Awir prison, a facility often described as a harsh and overcrowded detention centre located a short distance from the city centre. After a period of disappearance, Lee managed to place a short telephone call to Katie from the prison's call box, during which he told her he had been arrested and that the authorities were treating him as a suspected spy.

Subsequent investigations by The Sun revealed that the claim of espionage was unfounded and that Dubai officials had confirmed the detention was related to a civil matter. Lee is required to pay a four‑figure fine and is expected to be released early next week. The foreign ministry in London declined to comment on the specifics of Lee's detention but reiterated that British consular officers are in contact with the UAE authorities and are providing assistance to the family.

A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said they are supporting the family of a British national and remain in touch with local officials about his whereabouts. Katie, a mother of five, expressed her worry and love during the brief conversation, noting that the situation unfolded rapidly and that she had only limited information about the charges.

She also highlighted the difficult conditions at Al Awir, a prison known for severe overcrowding, unsanitary cells and reports of detainees being pressured to sign confessions under duress. Lee had been missing for eleven days before his location was confirmed. During that time he sent a video that appeared to show him hooded and bound after being taken to an unidentified location, claiming he had been kidnapped while attempting to travel to London.

His father, Peter Andrews, later contacted Katie to explain that his son was not kidnapped but was in police custody. He also arranged the prison call that allowed Katie to speak with Lee. The family filed a missing‑person report with the British embassy after losing contact, and the embassy's staff were initially unable to locate him.

Lee, who has lived in Dubai for two decades and married Katie after a brief romance, was last seen residing in the Satwa district before moving his belongings to his father's home. The incident has drawn attention to the broader issue of foreign nationals being detained in the United Arab Emirates without clear charges, raising concerns about legal transparency and detainee rights
