A Mason woman has been arrested in connection to a months-long burglary investigation at a University of Cincinnati residence hall.
CINCINNATI - A Mason woman has been arrested and charged in connection to a months-long burglary investigation at a University of Cincinnati residence hall. Carissa Gunter , 19, is facing four counts of burglary after she allegedly went into Daniels Hall , slept in a dorm room and then stole multiple items from students, according to court documents.
Gunter, who does not live in Daniels Hall, gained access to the dorm by pretending to be a student, says UC’s Senior Public Information Officer Kelly Cantwell. Someone inside the building let her in from there. “Carissa Gunter spent some time in Daniels Hall while most students were gone for winter break. Gunter gained access by impersonating a student. At this point this is an ongoing investigation for UCPD,” said Cantwell in an email to our inquiry. An affidavit says the 19-year-old used the elevator to get to Room 105, where she spent three nights. While there, she stole residents’ items, including an Acer laptop, headphones, a USB with games, and a pair of Nikes and Uggs, the affidavit says. Carissa Gunter, 19, is accused of breaking into a UC dorm room, spending several nights there, and taking multiple items from the victims, according to an affidavit.Although the incident took place in December, an arrest warrant was not issued until Feb. 23. Gunter was arrested April 6, and booked into the Hamilton County Justice Center.
