I haven't seen the mix yet, that might have been a mistake, but at the time, when I fought for the singing live, I was a bit like: I don't want this to feel like a musical. I don't want it to look like a music video. I want to see some f**k-ups. I want to see the veins when I'm singing.
I don't want it all to be perfect. I want it to feel like it's an organic happening. Recently, Reid and Anderson were filling in fans on what life was like for Lestat (Reid) and Louis (Anderson) between the second and third seasons – and how Daniel's book changed all of that (as we've seen in previously released teasers). Between seasons, they've been hanging out, talking.
Been hanging out over FaceTime, not in person, trying to figure out how to start being friends again, and then pretty quickly, things take a turn. That turn is Daniel's book going public, which Louis had a chance to check out a month before Lestat – but never gave him a heads-up about it. Can you blame him? Louis doesn't like the book either.
As Reid sees it, Lestat and Louis reconnecting had the potential to be more than just friendship – that is, until things get very messy with the publication of Daniel's book. They're gently negotiating each other, going for walks, chatting, doing a lot of FaceTime. Lestat leaves New Orleans; he needs a break. He's like, 'There's a lot of baggage in New Orleans.
' So, he goes to Montreal, and he starts a new life there. Louis and Lestat are probably calling every day and talking and texting and warming back into potentially thinking about getting back together.

As his band's popularity and star power rise, so does Lestat's influence over vampires and humans alike, leaving others to contend with Lestat's power in the face of the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population. We decided early on to make David Bowie a big influence for Lestat's musical style and persona, and there's certainly some Ziggy Stardust in this song. But we chose Bowie not only for his glam era, but because he was a chameleon.
Expect Lestat to change his musical colors throughout the season as well, as he discovers how to remain true to himself, and how to express that truth on stage every night.
'Long Face' is the first song Daniel Hart 'produced' for my album. He decided early on to steal where he could from Bowie because he hasn't had an original idea for five years now (is that his 'Green Knight' score fading in the rear view? ) As for 'Long Face,' the bass should have walked down with the guitar at the end instead of pedaling on E.
