A new officially licensed Lord of the Rings tabletop board game titled 'Circle of Conflict' is scheduled for release on November 6, 2026. Produced by Office Dog and distributed by Asmodee, the strategic dice-based game for 2-4 players is set in the Third Age of Middle-earth during a great war between nations. Players command both The Shadow and The Free Peoples armies, aiming to either get the Fellowship to Mount Doom or fully corrupt it. The game includes iconic characters, troops from Mordor, Nazgûl hunts, and more. It is available for pre-order now for around $50 USD.
After the official announcement of the heavily rumored Lord of the Rings RPG from Warhorse Games earlier this month, fans of the franchise may finally be getting the open-world Middle-earth game they've been waiting on for ages.
Warhorse is promising something absolutely massive and immersive, and based on their work with the Kingdom Come: Deliverance franchise, there's no reason to think they can't deliver. However, Warhorse's game isn't the only one fans are looking forward to, with yet another heavily rumored open-world project reportedly in development by Crystal Dynamics, the studio currently in charge of the Tomb Raider franchise.
This project is supposedly going to take a similar shape as Hogwarts Legacy, though specific details have not been confirmed as of this writing. And if these two projects weren't enough to get Lord of the Rings enthusiasts hyped, there's another brand-new officially licensed LOTR game titled Circle of Conflict launching on November 6, 2026, that fans won't want to miss .
Lord of the Rings fans will want to mark their calendars for November 6 for the upcoming release of a brand-new officially licensed tabletop board game called Circle of Conflict. The project is brought to us by Office Dog and is available for pre-order now via Asmodee for just around $50 USD. The board game is set during the Third Age of Middle-earth, when "a great war between the many nations is unfolding.
" It's a strategic dice-based game made for 2–4 players that"pits you against your neighbors as you simultaneously command both The Shadow and The Free Peoples armies against the players on either side of you. " The Circle of Conflict tabletop game set comes with the following items: Gameplay entails rolling dice and deciding how to apply each result, recruiting"iconic characters for The Free Peoples or perhaps muster the troops of Mordor to fight for The Shadow in one of two pivotal battles.
" Players can also "hunt your opponent’s Fellowship with your Nazgûl or secretly move your Fellowship to evade Sauron’s watchful Eye. " Playing as The Free Peoples, players need to get their Fellowship to Mount Doom and take down The Shadow, or alternatively, must fully corrupt The Fellowship when playing as The Shadow .
