Rosie O'Donnell shares her emotional journey to getting a facelift, including her child's opposition and her evolving views on aging and cosmetic surgery. Ricki Lake also reflects on her facelift anniversary.

Rosie O'Donnell recently shared a deeply personal account of her decision to undergo a facelift, chronicling the emotional journey and the moral conflicts she faced before ultimately going under the knife.

In a lengthy Substack post captioned The B4 & After on May 27, the 64-year-old actress and comedian opened up about her initial resistance to cosmetic surgery, describing how she once viewed facelifts as a betrayal of feminism and aging. O'Donnell wrote that she had assigned herself as the head of all women who would never ever get a facelift, but after losing 50 pounds, she found herself grappling with gravity's effects. She noted, 'It wasn't wrinkles it was gravity.

I would look in the mirror and think this isnt aging this is melting with intention.

' Her internal debate intensified when her 13-year-old child Clay discovered her plans and tried to change her mind. Clay told her, 'You earned your wrinkles,' and 'Young women look up to you,' adding that they would not be able to respect her if she went through with it. O'Donnell recalled that Clay's words sounded exactly like her younger self, causing her to delay the procedure for months.

Ultimately, she realized she needed to teach Clay that bodies do not belong to an idea and that freedom means being able to make choices without losing moral standing. She decided to proceed with the facelift, telling her doctor right before going under, 'I will never say God I wish you did more.

' O'Donnell expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating she looks like a slightly more well-rested, emotionally stable version of herself and has stopped arguing with the mirror. She concluded her post by reflecting on her life at 64, happy to be alive and able to use her voice. Celebrities like Ricki Lake have also been open about their facelift experiences.

Lake, 57, celebrated the one-year anniversary of her deep plane lower face and neck lift plus a mild CO2 laser on July 18. In an Instagram post, she expressed no regrets and during a March appearance on the Inside Edit podcast, she admitted she made an impulsive decision without much research but is thrilled with the results.

Lake told her doctor that she did not do any research when she decided impulsively to have the procedure, and she remains happy with the outcome. Other stars, including Denise Richards, Jessi Ngatikaura from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and Heidi Montag, have been candid about their cosmetic surgeries. Montag, who had some enhancements reversed in 2013, told Us Weekly that she struggled with the decision. O'Donnell's narrative highlights a broader cultural conversation about aging, beauty standards, and personal autonomy.

She emphasized the importance of teaching younger generations that they do not have to feel pressured to change but can if they choose, without losing moral standing. Her story resonates with many who face similar dilemmas about cosmetic procedures.

The actress concluded her post by saying, 'As I get ready for the last day of school with my youngest the caboose here at 64 years old with a new lower face and neck just happy to be alive able to feel and choose and use my voice whenever I feel called to for the girl I was the woman I am and all those joining my ranks as we carry on in act three this is me.
