David Balogun chipped in 12 points. The Spartans improved to 18-3, 4-1. Amador Valley dropped to 17-5, 2-3. \In a rematch of last season’s NorCal Division II final, Oakland Tech’s shot-blockers dominated the paint as the Bulldogs won the first of what could be several games against their rivals.
The Gaels bounced back after their close loss to De La Salle last week by edging Monte Vista at home. Jordan Morganstein led the way with 17 points, followed by Anthony Knight, who had 16. Ian Desai and Collin Ellis each had 21 points for Monte Vista. \The Mariners breezed through another Mission Valley Athletic League game behind another solid performance from Kellen Hampton. He scored 21 points and Dominic Walker had 15 as Moreau improved to 15-3, 8-0. Moreau will play Redwood on Saturday at the Crush in the Valley showcase at Contra Costa College. Bellarmine, playing at home in San Jose, upset the Wildcats behind 19 points from Will Corbett and 12 from Brennan Williams. The outcome dropped St. Ignatius out of a first-place tie with Archbishop Riordan in the WCAL standings. Bellarmine improved to 12-4, 3-3. SI, which plays host to Riordan on Tuesday, fell to 12-4, 5-1. Raymond Whitley led SI on Friday with 20 points. \Dante Vigil (18) and Jaiden Miller (16) combined to score 34 points as Liberty handled Pittsburg at home. Andrew Vixon added 13 for Liberty, which improved to 20-2, 6-0. Senior Jermaine Earnest had a game-high 22 points and Terrance Wiley chipped in 21 for Pittsburg, which dropped to 11-9, 3-3. The Wolves had six of their eight players score in double figures in a road rout of Concord. Junior Jalan Cody had a game-high 21 points and Antonio Kellogg Jr. chipped in 19. \Gavin Rendle scored 16 points to lead Campolindo to a dominant win over their Diablo Athletic League rival on the road. In a game that was extremely tight through three quarters, Palo Alto broke through in the fourth to grasp some breathing room and ultimately cruise to a double-digit win as Scotty Brennan returned to the court for Los Gatos. Head-Royce earned its seventh home win as the Jayhawks defeated rival Athenian for the second time. Nick Taubes led the way with 14 points, Micah Riebel had 13 and Micah Nyamuzuwe had 11 in the win. Head-Royce (11-10, 5-1) will play TKA on Saturday before a crucial league game against Cornerstone Christian on Tuesday. \College Park won its sixth straight game behind a 16-point performance from junior Elijah Smith. Freshman Miles Cooper had 14 points and Steven Barnett had 10 in the win. Senior Haikeem Shaw filled up the stat sheet, scoring 11 points, grabbing six rebounds and blocking four shots in Cornerstone Christian’s 57-45 win over Bentley. Ryan Seto Jr. chipped in nine points for Cornerstone, which improved to 19-3, 6-0. The Knights edged Benicia in a crucial DAL game for both teams. Porter Freitag scored a game-high 23 points for Las Lomas, which included seven 3-pointers. Senior Ayden Thompson had a team-high 15 points for Benicia. Mrinal Dwivedi nailed a clutch shot as Lynbrook took down Monta Vista in an SCVAL El Camino Division nailbiter. Ethan Jin scored a team-high 19 points and teammate Judah Marks put in 17 points for the San Jose school. \Johnson Tran scored 17 points, Cash Gonzalez totaled 13 and Devin Santos had 12 as Mt. Eden crushed Encinal at home. Mt. Eden (11-7, 4-0) travels to Freedom on Saturday. David Harris and Nico Martin each had 20 points, and Grayson Boustead nearly had a triple double (11 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists) as Northgate blew out Miramonte on the road
