Maddi Lucas wore a Chloé dress designed by Chemena Kamali, a vintage Italian lace veil, and family heirloom earrings for her wedding to Connor Oman at the home of her grandmother.

and Connor Oman first met in January 2021, the skies in Pebble Beach, California, were dark and stormy—but their connection was clear as day.

“I think it was love at first sight,” Maddi recalls. “My first impression was that she was beautiful and completely herself,” says Connor. Adds Maddi: “We talked about art, music, and film late into the night, and I remember thinking it all felt like a dream. ” The next morning, the power was out.

She drove over to the rental house where Connor was staying—he was in town for a golf trip—and dropped off coffee for him.

“That showed me how thoughtful she was,” says Connor. Later, he called and invited her to spend a few nights with him at the Post Ranch Inn. She said yes, and they went to Big Sur together. At the end of the weekend, Maddi invited Connor to meet her grandmother, Sally, and they all played golf together.

When Connor returned to Pebble Beach about a week later, Maddi’s grandmother invited him to join them on a trip to Hawaii.

“We ended up staying for just over a month. It was heaven,” says Maddi. About a month later, Maddi moved to Colorado.

“I found acting and film after a near-fatal lung collapse,” she says. Meanwhile, Connor was building his businesses, and the two supported each other as they pursued their goals. Maddi is an actor and producer, and serves on the boards of Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, California, and the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, Texas; Connor is co-founder and managing partner of Sun Theory, an investment firm based in Austin.

Just before Christmas in 2023, they got engaged on a trip to Aspen. Maddi was napping with the couple’s dogs, Hobbs and Skeeter, when Connor came into the room and knelt beside the bed. He said, “I can’t wait any longer,” reached into his back pocket, took out a ring box, and asked her to marry him.

“I was completely surprised. It was perfect,” shares Maddi. In 2024, they moved to Austin, where Connor grew up. When it came to the wedding location, the couple chose to return to the place where they first met, and hold it at a place that is meaningful both to Maddi and to them as a couple: her grandmother Sally’s house in Pebble Beach.

“She has always been our biggest cheerleader,” says Maddi. “I’m a sentimentalist at heart, and I wanted the objects, the design, the entire visual language of the weekend to tell our story,” Maddi says. They worked with plannerto create a celebration that felt “natural” and “grounded,” Maddi says.

For the flowers, “It felt important to work with only native plants and flowers, and I wanted to incorporate the Spanish moss that drapes from the surrounding cypress and oak trees,” Maddi adds.

“Connor and I share a love of Italian mid-century furniture and the quiet of Japanese minimalism. Those sensibilities informed design decisions. We traveled to the islands of Japan in 2023, and the coastline there reminds us of the Monterey Peninsula. We visited Noguchi’s home and studio on that trip and ended up using lights inspired by his work inside the tent.

The furniture was as mcm as we could get… I spent hours on the rental company websites picking each piece of furniture out,” Maddi says. She found Charlie Thompson of theFor the table settings, they chose green and blue Ginori plates, black Oaxacan chargers, Belgian linens, French flatware, and a mix of glass and wood tables anchored by three-foot-tall candles fromtook Gino’s designs and transcribed, formatted, and printed everything from the invitations to the caviar spoons, menus, the website, merchandise, and more.

“Connor and I were committed to keeping things local and personal,” Maddi says. For food and drinks, they worked withto recreate cocktails from Connor’s Austin bar, Garage, and his restaurant, Comedor. They also worked with their friend, local sommelier Jesse Salazar. The cakes were from Maddi’s childhood bakery,, a “neon artist and Austin legend,” who created a custom neon sign with lyrics from their first dance song, “Thank You,” by Led Zeppelin, says Maddi.

The two held their wedding on October 4, 2025, beginning the celebrations with a Western-inspired dinner on Thursday night in the pasture atin Carmel-by-the-Sea. Maddi shares that the date and time of their wedding ceremony were “selected by astrologer, Erin Waage, based on our charts. ” For their wedding fashion, Maddi worked with her friend, the stylist Jessica Paster.

She sent Paster a photo from Chloé creative director Chemena Kamali’s spring show of a dress she loved, and Paster suggested they reach out to the Chloé team.

“The next thing I knew, I was in their Paris atelier, wearing the runway sample, designing and playing alongside Chemena’s extraordinary team,” says Maddi. There is a story behind the inspiration for the dress.

“When my grandfather was first starting out his car business, he sold a car for a yellow diamond. Years later, my grandmother found a mate for it and designed a pair of earrings with pearls and a scallop drop detail. My grandmother gifted them to me and we actually designed the dress with them in mind,” Maddi says.

She paired the dress with Miron Crosby boots, vintage Neil Lane diamond earrings , and later slipped on a white leather jacket from. When the couple and their guests went to Bud’s Bar at La Playa Hotel for a nightcap, Maddi changed into a vintage Bill Blass sheer black and white striped dress from Tab Vintage. For her beauty, she wanted to “feel like myself,” with the help of makeup artists Lauren Gott and Aviva Jansen.

Meanwhile, Connor wore a custom white Tom Ford peak lapel tuxedo jacket with John Lobb shoes. Maddi had cufflinks made for him out of an abalone shell she had found on the beach at Stillwater Cove, where they exchanged their vows. They then had a formal ceremony with their family and friends.

Connor walked in to “Loving Her Was Easier ” by Kris Kristofferson, and Maddi walked in barefoot to “To Live is to Fly" by Townes Van Zandt, with their dog, Hobbs. Their friend John served as their officiant. After the ceremony, they had cocktails and appetizers in Maddi’s grandmother’s backyard, had dinner, and an afterparty at Barmel. Months later, Maddi says, “People are still talking about the weekend, which means so much.

Friends send us photos of their caviar spoons in use, their name cards still sitting on their dressers, photos of them wearing the merch my mom and I made together. We are still full of gratitude to my grandmother for hosting our wedding, to all of our wonderful friends and family that came out, and to all of the wonderful artists that we got to work with on this project.

”owner, Sharon Reagan, has made it her life’s mission to rescue and rehabilitate horses. She is an actual angel, and her property is at the spiritual intersection of land and sea. We connected deeply to Sharon and her property and were honored to host our rehearsal dinner there. The beautiful custom boots my mom and I made together in Aspen at Miron Crosby.

She put a little love note inside. Thanks, Mama! My mom’s gorgeous Carolina Herrera with a vintage belt. One thing about my mom is that she loves all things vintage and second-hand.

These name cards were special. I buy vintage postcards every time Connor and I travel somewhere. And my mom, calligrapher extraordinaire, painted everyone’s name on them. She also handwrote our menu, which Catherine, of Bricolage, formatted and printed for our dinner.

Catherine also did watercolor painting by hand on the menus. Another beautiful and meaningful collaboration. Some details for night two. This adorable minaudière came from my girlfriend, Jen Fields, owner of Cookie Monster Vintage in Austin.

Connor’s cufflinks. I had these made from an abalone shell I found on the beach where we did our private vows. Bouquet with my mother’s mother Joyce’s pins, and Connor’s grandma, Granny Boo’s lace handkerchief. A gift from Aunt Teena.

Ice cream for dessert, of course. The caterer made mint chocolate chip ice cream in the style of Amy’s Zilker Mint Chip. Our fave! We celebrated a few important birthdays that night, including Connor’s dad, my grandma, and another close friend.
