The text criticizes authors like Stephen King for using bizarre and inappropriate descriptors for women's bodies, such as sharp nipples, unnecessary focus on breasts and vaginas, and comparisons like wet sand. It highlights examples from novels that objectify or sexualize female characters, including minors, and questions the necessity of such descriptions.
I don't think women are as aware of hard nipples as Stephen King thinks they are. Also, why are they sharp??? Oh, also, this character is eleven.
If you can't read the above, it says:"She stood there for some time, her legs as cold as marble inside her jeans, her nipples feeling sharp enough that hard enough to cut paper, her lips dead dry. She waited for the voices. No voices came.
"If you can't read the portion in red, it says: "She flipped onto her stomach, the sheets warm from her body, so the transitive warmth against her vulva was that of her own body, and flopping around in the bed was an act of masturbation. "If you're"often" looking at your little sister's chest and thinking about her boobs — then one of your first thoughts when she dies is of her boobs — you may have a problem.
Another Stephen King one — I like his books, but man, why is this character even thinking about vaginas here? And how in the world is wet sand comparable? , but there are a bunch of weird descriptors like this. Someone needs to tell him it's okay to just...not mention characters' boobs.
Vaginas are not secret compartments. Sure, you hear of women hiding a drug baggie or whatever, but a whole purse with multiple cards inside???
"So I hauled my cassava melon-sized boulders up the hill, along with my red hair, sapphire eyes, and bitchy attitude because fuck this. Part of me was tempted to...
"Ah, yes, a woman who is not attractive must either force herself to become friendly and likable or kill herself. This 15-year-old girl does not sound anatomically possible. Also, why are we hearing this description about the main character's daughter? Is this how he thinks about her?
I hate when writers use"sensual mouth" . Genuinely, what does that mean? It only gets worse from there. Rick didn't pause to analyze the psychology of pregnant women, but the author sure did.
Just had to get his own personal disgust of pregnant women in there! I don't think anything about your legs changes when you have sex. Also, I don't think the average man can guess a woman's exact weight. Apparently, this was the third mention of period cramps and PMS from a male author's book.
Make of that what you will. At least they don't talk about her boobs, but still... Padmé was a queen and a senator with a full life before Anakin. Et tu, John Green?
A man staring at you is assault, but a hot guy doing it is fine? This sounds like an incel talking point, tbh. This is just a completely unnecessary scene. Again, male authors, you don't need to have your female characters reflect on their boob size this much.
"Going through the gates, he heard the clatter of running footsteps behind him. Two giggling girls, both in short skirts, both with bouncing breasts, both about fourteen years old, flounced past.
'Anyway, the crumpet's good. ' Harris smiled to himself. "Oh look, another male author describing something about a 14-year-old — the main character's daughter, no less — as"sexy. " "Linda, his fourteen-year-old daughter, was just going out the door in a flirt of a skirt and a flip of her ponytail, tied this morning with a sexy velvet ribbon.
Her books were under one arm. "
