Mobile union training director charged with stealing funds from apprenticeship program Mobile Police have arrested and charged Frederick James Moore with aggravated theft by deception after union officials discovered thousands of dollars missing from an apprenticeship training program , according to court documents.

Moore, who identified himself as the Training Director of the Mobile Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee on LinkedIn, was arrested on March 29. According to an affidavit for a search warrant, other union officials became concerned when a statement provided by Moore to the board showed a deposit they were unaware of. Acting on that concern, union officials obtained an official statement on the account from the bank which showed “significant discrepancies” when compared to the statement provided by Moore. The deposit reported by Moore was for $89,753.57 when the actual amount was $94,395.75, a difference of $4.624.18. In February, the affidavit says, Moore cashed checks to himself that differed in the amounts he reported to the board. The union offical told MPD investigators that the account “should roughly have at any given time from $400,000 to $500,000.” According to the filing, the account at that time had a balance of $2,998.11. The JATC is a non-profit joint partnership between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 505 and the Gulf Coast Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association. Accoring to their website, the program has trained over 1,000 apprentices to Journeyman Wireman status, while the apprentice recieves paid on the job training. On Monday, Moore entered a plea of not guilty and waived his right to an arraignment on the felony charge.
