Social media outcry draws crowd to board meeting after parents say Brentwood STEAM educator grabbed their daughter’s arm for being out of uniform.

Parents accused a gym teacher at Brentwood STEAM School of Innovation of bullying and assaulting their 11-year-old daughter, and the outcry on social media drew a crowd to the next Edgewood Independent School District board meeting. There, the rally on behalf of Angelann Carrasco , the daughter of Carolann Reyes and Angel Carrasco , came up against board rules that limit public comments to items on the meeting agenda.

Reyes said the teacher grabbed the student’s arm and pulled her around, forced her to unzip her jacket to see whether she was in uniform, then said she would keep Angelann late after school to wash her clothes if she had to. “My daughter was shamed, made fun of, verbally taunted and physically assaulted for the clothes she was wearing that was within school guidelines,” Reyes told the school board Tuesday, and asked for a meeting with the superintendent.
