A Cuyahoga Falls woman is scheduled to learn her sentence after pleading guilty to embezzling thousands of dollars from the county’s Junior 4-H Club for years.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio - A Cuyahoga Falls woman learned her sentence Friday morning after pleading guilty to embezzling thousands of dollars from the county’s Junior 4-H Club for at least 7 years.

Angela Hawsman, a former member of the Summit County Fair, was sentenced to 60 months of community control and ordered to pay $20,000 in restitution. The probation period was increased after victims told the judge they were being harassed and threatened by members of Hawsman’s family. On July 29, 2025, she was charged under a secret indictment for grand theft for embezzling about $24,766.85 from the Summit County Junior Leaders 4-H Club/Horse Camp from about January 2017 to December 2024.

In the sentencing two people who volunteered at the horse camp said Hawsman told them multiple times the camp didn’t have enough money to continue, that they needed to charge people more and they couldn’t help families that needed scholarships.

“Little did we know our funds were spent on Angela’s mortgage, steak dinners, vacations, cigarettes , and even a trip to Victoria’s Secret,” said Josh Casteel. It wasnt until the camp volunteers started digging into financials that they found that Hawsman was draining their accounts.

“The children deserved better, the parents deserved better, and the community that trusted this program deserved better,” said Mckenzie Pennell. Hawsmen will pay $500 a month until she hits 20 thousand dollars to pay back the camp. We’re told she has already paid 3 thousand. The horse camp has since been able to raise a surplus of funds and start to regain trust from the community.
