Georgina Baillie , the granddaughter of the late Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs , has called off her engagement to Rusty Egan , the 68-year-old co-founder of the New Romantic band Visage.
The couple, who announced their engagement just before Christmas, have split due to the challenges of their age difference. Baillie, 40, explained that while she still adores Egan, their life paths diverged; she is focused on building her own empire and launching an online recovery and addiction show called 'Hope', whereas Egan is looking to retire to the seaside. She returned the engagement ring, which featured a large sapphire, a few months ago.
The pair remain close and continue to work together on Egan's live show, Sound And Vision. Egan reflected on their 18 months together with fondness, noting the ring now sits on his desk and calling the time with Baillie 'wonderful'.
