That's according to a new ranking from WalletHub, a personal finance website that compared more than 1,300 cities with populations of 25,000 to 100,000. The cities were ranked based on 45 indicators of livability, from housing costs and crime rates to the percentage of adults with adequate leisure time and the number of restaurants per capita.
Suburbs home to richest congressional districts in the Houston region The nation's best small city, WalletHub declared, is Carmel, Ind., north of Indianapolis, surrounded by parks and nature preserves. With about 100,000 people, Carmel stood out in the ranking due to economic factors, WalletHub said: Unemployment is low, rents are affordable, household incomes are high and the median credit score in the city stands at an impressive 775.
