Annual games between Texas-Oklahoma and Texas-Texas A&M could be in jeopardy without scheduling changes.

A slate of eight league games allows each SEC school to schedule a weaker opponent instead of going head-to-head with another from the nation’s toughest league. But, because the SEC uses a rotating schedule from year-to-year to accommodate its 16-team membership, the only guarantee that schools would play traditional rivalries every year is if they play a nine-game schedule.“My view is there are no hard positions,” he said. “We did a really good job in ‘24 and ‘25 of honoring those annually-expected games.
