An active shooter alert has been issued for people in the Wyoming and Lockland areas.
LOCKLAND , Ohio - What was initially called an “ active shooter threat” is now being called an isolated incident by police. An active shooter warning, issued around 2:40 p.m., has been lifted as of 3:35 p.m. Thursday, May 8, in Lockland , Ohio .
The lockdown at Lockland schools has also been lifted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
“There is no longer a threat, and you may resume normal activities,” a new Hamilton County emergency alert says. A “Civilian Danger Warning” was initially sent to residents around 2:40 p.m. regarding a possible active shooter. Billboards along Interstate 71 also flashed the alert. People in the area were told to avoid the 500 block of N Wayne Avenue.
Emergency officials asked nearby residents to take shelter, barricade the doors and stay away from windows. A man on scene tells FOX19 NOW that he heard about four gunshots in the area. Hamilton County dispatchers said that there are drones and K-9 units searching the area for a shooting suspect.
