President Trump Claims Credit for Rapid Reflecting Pool Renovation, Criticizes Predecessors

President Donald Trump has announced the completion of a major renovation to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, a project he says was done faster and more efficiently than previous efforts. The work involved steam cleaning, sandblasting, and pebble blasting to resurface the basin, which is now painted 'American flag blue.' Trump blamed the Biden and Obama administrations for wasting hundreds of millions of dollars on failed attempts, vowing his administration will finish before July 4th for the nation's 250th anniversary.

President Donald Trump has claimed full responsibility for the accelerated and successful renovation of the iconic Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, contrasting his administration's approach with what he described as the failures and wasteful spending of his predecessors.

Speaking from the site, Trump detailed the extensive work he said was undertaken, describing a multi-stage process included steam cleaning, sandblasting, and a final pebble blasting to properly resurface the massive concrete basin. He noted that 'It's a bigger version of sand,' explaining the technique used to achieve a smooth finish. The pool is nearing completion and set to be ready for the nation's 250th Independence Day celebration on July 4.

The president did not hold back in his criticism of the Biden and Obama administrations, accusing them of incompetence and fiscal mismanagement.

'The Biden administration and the Obama administration spent hundreds of millions of dollars trying to get it to work, and they failed,' Trump stated. He speculated that prior plans would have cost around $400 million and taken three to four years to complete, plagued by cost overruns.

In contrast, he asserted his team delivered a faster and more cost-effective solution, though he did not provide a specific total cost for his administration's work. Beyond bragging about speed and thrift, Trump revealed an aesthetic touch, noting the pool's basin is being painted a distinctive 'American flag blue.

' This patriotic color choice aligns with the broader Independence Day theme. The project's timeline has been compressed dramatically under Trump's direction, with the goal to finish well ahead of the July 4th deadline.

However, the renovation has not been without controversy, as there are claims the administration did not follow congressionally mandated procedures for the resurfacing, a point that raises questions about the legal and regulatory compliance of the fast-tracked work
