What happens when a Western bar adds a vintage shop, and the country combo moves in to a former bank in Fishtown? You get Second Hand Ranch -- a unique new spot that just galloped into town with plenty of options for a gitty-up good time. The decor is cowboy rustic, and the bar has all the standards -- including Lone Star Beer. There's good eatin' with nachos, chili, and 100% Wagyu hot dogs.open noon to midnight, later on Friday/SaturdayForest & Main has been an award-winning craft brewer based in Ambler since 2012. Dane DeMarco has been nominated for a James Beard Award for the food created over a career in many different kitchens. Together, they are bringing their brands to the Snack Shack at Forest & Main in Fishtown. DeMarco handles the kitchen with approachable unique dishes throughout the menu like a pork roll cheesesteak, a giant pretzel with a house topping and a fry flight to match the beer atmosphere. Forest & main provides the drinks with a range of craft beers and different style taps to deliver their goods. There are cocktails and ciders from local makers and a takeout refrigerator if you want to bring anything home that you like. Bobby Flay thought the Dominican Smash Burger was so good he gave it his top prize at the 2024 Food Network New York City Wine and Food Festival. Now, you can get that same burger at El Sazon R.D. in Northern Liberties. The new eatery has a menu featuring Dominican flavors in a takeout setting. They also feature empanadas that can be sliced open and topped taco style. There are loaded fries and house made Dominican drinks. The restaurant has 3 locations in New York City, where it was first launched 2 years ago. This is the first location outside of New York. The Philadelphia location offers a limited menu with plans to expand in the future. The team behind the restaurant has been in Philadelphia since 2020 with the restaurant SET NoLibs. El Sazon R.D. is right next door and brings a fast-food experience with a Dominican twist.The 13th annual Philadelphia Film Society Oscars Party is turning the theater into a celebration of the film industry. There will be red carpets, fashion, food and cocktails at the Society's Film Center on Chestnut Street. The evening starts with a reception in the newly renovated lobby of the theater and moves into the screening room where guests will be able to watch the awards unfold on one of Philadelphia's largest movie screens.Founder & CEO, Maya Nazareth, had taken up Brazilian jiu-jitsu class when she was 16 years old. After the episode aired, she says, she had Olympic-level athletes, UFC athletes and some of the biggest names in the sport reaching out to work with Alchemize Fightwear. Add chicken, celery, and shallot. Stir until evenly coated.The Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers final home season concert takes you on a journey, celebrating the history and legacy of the company. "It's called 'Echo and Flame: Feng Huang Awakens,'" says Kun-Yang Lin, Founder and Artistic Director of the Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers. "This is your last opportunity to see the ensemble," says Katie Moore-Derkits, Executive Director of the Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers. "So Feng Huang in Chinese actually is eastern phoenix," says Lin. "It's different than a western phoenix, because eastern phoenix never die. But eastern phoenix only sleep, so we waiting for Feng Huang to awake."Lin founded KYL/D in 1998 in New York City and moved the company to Philadelphia in 2008. "People found that the way I move, the way I construct work, has something people interested in. They found it's a little bit different," says Lin.She says there's also a "social consciousness" to Lin's work.The eight dancers will perform five works, including two world premieres.His 101st work is called 'Spring 101.' Another one of his pieces is a solo work titled 'My Home?'"The spirit of the company will live on through the artists," she says. "Kun-Yang is performing on stage for the first time in over six years."The Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers present "Echo and Flame: Feng Huang Awakens" on March 27 and 28 at Drexel's Mandell Theater.
