The group of churchgoers defending the continued operation of Mother of Sorrows claim they have not been properly consulted on the building’s future.One month later, the group continues to fight; they seek a more comprehensive look into the roof damage assessment and the chance to inspect it themselves. “Our architect is not allowed in,” said Regina Petros, “and we’re not allowed to see the full reports of the architects that they hired in. It begs the question, are they hiding something?” 19 News reached out to the Diocese of Youngstown for a statement on the matter, as well as insights into the possible future of the building. A spokesperson said that a member of the diocese would be available for an interview at a later date.
