First Alert Chief Meteorologist Josh Johnson is announcing his departure from WSFA after nearly 18 years with the station.
Josh made the decision public during a broadcast of WSFA 12 News at Noon on Wednesday, telling Anchor Judd Davis that he’ll be staying in the Montgomery area. “This is kind of a family thing,” Josh said, “this has really nothing to do with any sort of bad, or anything like that.
It’s all a good thing.” “I’ve really, really, really enjoyed serving you with weather information on those long tornado nights, the hurricanes,” Josh told viewers. “We’ve gone through a lot together.” Josh started with WSFA 12 News nearly two decades ago in 2008, getting up well before the sun rises to prepare forecasts for “Today in Alabama” viewers.to the position of WSFA chief meteorologist, delivering some of the best severe weather coverage in the state, helping keep our viewers informed and safe through countless Alabama weather events.
